Summer Art Camp

Camp Creativity...
a summer art camp adventure!
The Chartreuse Muse Art School offers a creative escape from the hot summer months for children 4 to 18 years of age. Our summer art camps allow students to create fun works of art and socialize with other creative kids while being taught by highly qualified and professional art teachers.
All supplies are provided. Parents are responsible for snacks, lunches and drinks. All children will create their own camp shirt, so please include shirt size on the registration form: S,M, L or XL children’s sizes.
Please arrive promptly for class but no earlier than 15 minutes before the class is to begin. Parent or guardian must check child in and check child out. Please pick up promptly.
Payment & Cancellation Policies: Payment to the Chartreuse Muse must accompany the registration form to reserve your child’s space in the class. Credit is not given for missed classes. Class credit is given for cancellations. Discount of 10% is applied for 3 or more kids or 3 or more camps. Classes fill up fast, so sign up early!

Costs and Times:

Ages 4-7 years
Morning (9:00-11:30am) - $125 per week
Afternoon (12:30-3:00pm) - $125 per week

Ages 8-12 years
Full Day (9:00am-3:30pm) - $250 per week
Half Day (9:00am-12 noon OR 12:30-3:30pm) - $150 per week

Ages 12-18 years
Afternoon (1:00-4:00pm) - $200 per week


June


Busy Bee: June 15-19, ages 4-7
Let the Muse keep your little bee busy making caterpillar collage, butterfly masks, itsy bitsy spiders and much more.

Art from the Masters: June 15-19, ages 12-18
Students will create three large masterpieces: drawing, painting and sculpture inspired by the masters of art.

Cartooning: June 22-26, ages 8-12
East meets West. Cartooning secrets unveiled. Learn some tricks of the trade. Projects include: animation cells, flip books, caricatures, cartoon cereal bowls and Japanese animation/Anime’.
Visiting Artist: George te Velde, local editorial cartoonist.


July

Hippie Camp: July 6-10, ages 8-12
Travel back in time to the 60’s when bright colors, fun patterns, and expression were all the rage. Projects include batik t-shirts, beaded jewelry, macramé belts, holographic Warhol art and kaleidoscopes.

Once Upon a Time: July 13-17, ages 4-7
Step into a world of make believe. Projects include simple bookmaking, Eric Carle collage, clay crown frames and much more.

Fashion Design: July 13-17, ages 12-18
Learn the in and outs of fashion designs: study figure proportion, create your own fabric, sew by hand, design a label and much more. Visiting Artist: Nicole Slater:

Color and Design: July 20-24, ages 8-12
Immerse yourself in the world of design: learn color theory, design a logo, create various styles of fashion, plus accessories and much more. Artists: Mondrian, Warhol, and more. Visiting Artist: Nicole Slater:

Storybook Illustration: July 27-31, ages 8-12
Create illustrations, drawings and paintings from your favorite books using a variety of art media and techniques. Projects include: Dr. Seuss perspective, Snowy Day painting, “Where the Wild Things Are” clay monsters, and write, illustrate and make your own book and much more! Visiting Artist: Suzanne Staud, children's book illustrator.


August

The Art of Science: August 3-7, ages 8-12
Explore what makes art work! Discover the science behind the media and techniques of art while creating art experiments. Artists: da Vinci, George Washington Carver, Arcimboldo.

Pint Size Picassos: August 10-14, ages 4-7
Young artists learn styles and techniques from the masters. Projects include Picasso Portraits, Warhol Prints, Van Gogh sunflowers, Durer clay animals and much more.

Art of Science: August 10-14, ages 12-18
Explore what makes art work! Discover the science behind the media and techniques of art while creating art experiments. Artists: da Vinci, George Washington Carver, Arcimboldo.
